South Africa

Spur Corporation Limited

  • EPS: 256.91 264.12 cents, up from 144.33 cents (78.0% 83.0% increase).
  • During 2023, company repurchased 1,499,891 ordinary shares, reducing weighted average number of shares in issue.
  • Franchised restaurant sales for 2023 financial year increased by 23.0% compared to prior year.
  • Strong trading performance with 31.5% growth in franchised restaurant sales in the first half of 2023, and 15.1% growth in the second half.
  • Marketing efforts, sponsorship activities, and product quality improvements contributed to 13% increase in restaurant footcount.
  • Restaurant sales growth percentages for various brands:
    • Spur: 24.9% full year growth
    • Panarottis: 18.6% full year growth
    • John Dory's: 8.7% full year growth
    • RocoMamas: 9.6% full year growth
    • Speciality brands (Hussar Grill, Casa Bella, Nikos): 42.2% full year growth
  • Total South Africa: 22.5% full year growth
  • Total International: 27.6% full year growth on constant exchange rate basis
  • Total group: 23.0% full year growth.

Impala Platinum Holdings Limited

  • Challenging operating environment due to power constraints, rand depreciation, and input pricing issues.
  • Gross Group 6E production increased by 2% to 3.25 million ounces.
  • Managed operations' production increased by 6% to 2.42 million ounces.
  • Gross 6E refined and saleable volumes declined by 4% to 2.96 million ounces.
  • Sales volumes declined by 6% to 2.97 million ounces.
  • Basic earnings and EPS also expected to be at least 20% lower than the comparative period.

Saudi Aramco

  • Saudi Aramco has reported Q2 profits of $30.1B down 38% YoY.

Berkshire Hathaway

  • Berkshire Hathaway owned 915.6M shares of Apple as of their most recent portfolio update.
  • That means Buffett is about to get a $219.7 Million dividend check from Apple.
  • Berkshire Hathaway ended the Q2 with $147.4 billion in cash and cash equivalents up from $105.4 billion in Q2 2022, this equates to almost 20% of the value of the total company just in cash sitting on the balance sheet.
  • Berkshire's equity portfolio is worth $353.4 Billion as of the end of Q2 up from $308.8B at the start of the year.
