South Africa

Master Drilling Group Limited- Financial Statements for the year ended 31 December 2022 and Dividend Declaration

  • Revenue increased by 31.7% to USD226.4 million.
  • Earnings per share increased by 7.6% to 14.2 cents in USD and by 19% to 232.5 cents in ZAR.
  • The order book is stable at USD265.4 million, and there is a healthy pipeline of USD567.9 million.
  • A dividend of ZAR47.5 cents per share has been declared, an increase from the previous year's ZAR32.5 cents per share.
  • Cash generated from operating activities was USD25.0 million.

Stor-Age Property REIT Limited- Business and trading update

  • Stor-Age achieved a 7.8% increase in distributable earnings for the six months ending September 2021.
  • Revenue grew by 12.6%, mainly driven by rental income from newly acquired properties.
  • The company has acquired three self-storage properties for a total consideration of R470 million.
  • The total value of the Stor-Age portfolio now stands at R7.7 billion.
  • The company plans to invest in new developments and property acquisitions to continue its growth strategy.
  • The company will pay an interim dividend of 52.57 cents per share.
  • Stor-Age aims to maintain a conservative approach to balance sheet management while pursuing growth opportunities.

Transaction Capital Limited- Dealings in securities

  • Old Mutual sold TCP shares and now holds 4.90% (a decrease from 5.46% previously held) of the total issued ordinary shares of the Company.
  • Associates of directors purchased 1 500 000 shares for a total value of R19 782 750.

Disney

  • Disney is eliminating its metaverse division as part of the layoffs set to begin this week.

Alibaba

  • Alibaba has announced that it plans to split the company into 6 separate units that will individually raise funds and explore IPOs.
  • Alibaba is up around 10% today in pre-market trading off the back of this news.

Berkshire Hathaway

  • Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway has filed for its purchase of 3.7 Million more shares of Occidental at an average price of $58.98 per share.
  • Berkshire now owns 211.7M shares of Occidental + 83.9M warrants to purchase more shares of common stock.

Neuralink

  • Elon Musk's brain implant company Neuralink has approached one of the biggest US neurosurgery centers as a potential clinical trials partner as it prepares to test its devices on humans once regulators allow for it.
