South Africa

Truworths International Limited- Unaudited group interim results for the 26 weeks ended 1 January 2023

  • Sale of merchandise grew by 13.1% to R10.9 billion.
  • Retail sales grew by 13.7% to R11.3 billion.
  • Profit before finance costs and tax grew by 5.6% to R2.7 billion.
  • EPS grew by 12.5%.
  • The board has declared an interim gross dividend of 320 South African cents and will be paid on Monday, 20 March 2023.

Spur Corporation Limited- Interim Results for the six months ended 31 December 2022 and Cash Dividend

  • Franchised restaurant turnovers grew by 31.5% to R4.9 billion.
  • Revenue grew by 35.0% to R1 533.8 million.
  • Profit before income tax grew by 103.0% to R168.4 million.
  • EPS grew by 198.0% to 137.14 cents.
  • Unrestricted cash and cash equivalents totalled R293.5 million.

City Lodge Holdings Limited- Unaudited Interim Results and Cash Dividend Declaration for the six months ended 31 December 2022

  • The company's revenue for the six months increased to R848m, compared to R436m in 2021.
  • Earnings per share and headline earnings per share were 17c, compared to a loss of 6c in the prior period.
  • The company declared a dividend of 5c per share, compared to no dividend in 2021.
  • The average group occupancies for the six months ended 31 December 2022 were 57%, compared to 30% in 2021.
  • The recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic has seen improved numbers of foreign tourists visiting South Africa, in addition to an increase in domestic business and leisure travel.
  • The company faced some challenges such as electricity load shedding and supply chain disruptions, resulting in longer lead times and higher prices.
  • The group generated EBITDAR for the six months of R303.8 million, which is an improvement of 143% (2021: R124.9 million).
  • The improvement in trading conditions has delivered a profit of R97.9 million from a loss of R33.8 million in the prior period.

  • Revenue of $4.65B beating expectations of $4.53B.
