South Africa

BHP Group Limited

  • BHP has completed the acquisition of OZ Minerals Limited.

Glencore

  • Glencore has purchased non-controlling equity stakes in Mineracão Rio do Norte S.A. and Alunorte S.A. from Norsk Hydro ASA for $775 million.
  • Glencore will acquire a 30% equity stake in Alunorte and a 45% equity stake in MRN.

Gold Fields Limited

  • Gold Fields has partnered with Canadian miner Osisko Mining to develop and mine the Windfall Project in Quebec, Canada.
  • Gold Fields has acquired a 50% interest in the Windfall Project for CAD 300 million ($220m), with the remainder of construction capital expenditures to be shared on a 50/50 basis.

Impala Platinum Holdings Limited- Production report

  • Total 6E Group production volumes decreased by 2% to 2.35 million ounces, while managed volumes improved by 1% to 1.74 million ounces.
  • Gross 6E refined and saleable production declined by 9% to 2.14 million ounces due to maintenance timing and load curtailment.
  • PGM pricing faced headwinds due to short-term demand and supply dislocations, and input pricing has eased for some key consumables but the impact of rand depreciation remains.

  • Revenue of $28.10B beating expectations of $27.66B.
  • Facebook daily active users came in at 2.04 billion above expectations of 2.01B.
  • Facebook monthly active users came in at 2.99B missing expectations of 3B.
  • Facebooks Metaverse division performance from Q1:
  • They brought in $339M in revenue down from $695M in the same quarter last year.
  • Net Loss of $4 Billion up from $3 Billion in the same quarter last year.

Amazon Earnings

  • EPS of $0.31 beating expectations of $0.22.
  • Revenue of $127.4B beating expectations of $124.55B.
  • Amazon Web Services brought in Revenue of $21.4B up 16% YoY above expectations of 14% growth.
  • Amazon's CEO has said they want to build the world's best personal assistant and AI is a big part of that.

Pinterest Earnings

  • EPS of $0.08 beating expectations of $0.02.
  • Revenue of $603M beating expectations of $592M.

Snapchat Earnings

  • EPS of $0.1 beating expectations of -$0.1.
  • Revenue of $988.6M missing expectations of $1.01B.
