South Africa

Purple Group Limited

  • Purple Group intends to raise a maximum of R105 million through a renounceable rights offer to pursue expansion opportunities.
  • The final terms of the Rights Offer, including the subscription price and the ratio of Rights Offer shares, will be announced on May 18, 2023.
  • The Rights Offer is intended to support the strategic growth ambitions of EasyEquities, a subsidiary of Purple Group, and accelerate its product and regional expansion.
  • Several major shareholders have committed to follow their rights in the Rights Offer.
  • EasyEquities will also conduct a separate rights offer to raise R150 million, using the net proceeds for expansion opportunities.

Telkom SA SOC Limited- Trading statement

  • Reported basic EPS is expected to be between 1 958.6 cents and 2 065.9 cents per share, representing a decrease of between 465% and 485%.
  • Normalised EPS is expected to be between 53.7 cents and 161.0 cents per share, representing a decrease of between 70% and 90%.

Anglo American PLC

  • Rough Diamond sales for the De Beers fourth sales cycle of 2023, amounted to $480 million compared to $542m in the last sales cycle.

Ninety One Limited- Results for the year ended 31 March 2023

  • Assets under management (AUM) decreased by 10% to GBP 129.3 billion, with net outflows of GBP 10.6 billion.
  • Profit before tax reduced by 20% to GBP 212.6 million, and adjusted operating profit decreased by 10% to GBP 206.9 million.
  • Basic earnings per share decreased by 19% to 18.2p
  • The company maintained a strong balance sheet with no debt.
  • A proposed final dividend of 6.7p per share was announced, resulting in a full-year dividend of 13.2p per share.
  • The company remains cautious about market conditions and expects challenges in the upcoming reporting period.

Tesla

  • Elon Musk just said he will be devoting more time to Tesla, especially on AI and new product development following his stepping down as CEO of Twitter.

Berkshire Hathaway

  • Warren Buffett and Berkshire Hathaway bought 20.4M more shares of Apple during Q1 bringing their total stake up to 915.6M.
  • Given the increase in shares Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway are now on pace to receive $879 Million worth of Dividends from just Apple in 2023.
