South Africa

Vodacom Group Limited- Results for the year ended 31 March 2023

  • Group overall revenue rose 16.0% to R119.2 billion, positively impacted by the acquisition of Vodafone Egypt and rand depreciation against the companys basket of international currencies.
  • Group service revenue grew 17.2% to R93.6 billion, supported by data and financial services revenue.
  • Financial services revenue increased 29.2% to R9.9 billion, contributing 10.5% to Group service revenue.
  • Group EBITDA growth was 13.2% to R45.1 billion, reflecting a clear improvement in second-half profitability.
  • The company served a combined 185.8 million customers across the Group.
  • Full-year dividend of 670cps was declared.

Calgro M3 Holdings Limited

  • Revenue increased by 15.4% to R1.525 billion.
  • Earnings per share increased by 41.3% to 153.37 cps.
  • Net asset value per share increased by 19.8% to R9.51.
  • Net cash generated from operating activities was R2.1 million.
  • Net debt to equity ratio decreased by 12.7% to 0.62.
  • Gross profit margin improved by 2.2% to 23.5%.
  • Cash on hand totaling R172.6 million.
  • No dividend was declared for the year ended 28 February 2023.

Dis-Chem Pharmacies Limited- Trading Update and Trading Statement

  • Group revenue (excluding COVID-19 vaccines and testing) increased by 9.0%.
  • Retail revenue (excluding COVID-19 vaccines and testing) increased by 8.4%
  • External wholesale revenue increased by 20.7%.
  • Dis-Chem is expecting an increase of between 16.5% and 19.0% in Earnings Per Share and Headline Earnings Per Share for the 12 month period ended 28 February 2023.
  • Ivan Saltzman, the co-founder of Dis-Chem, announced that he will step down as CEO at the end of June 2023 but will remain an executive director on the Board.
  • Rui Morais, the current CFO, will succeed Saltzman as CEO effective from 1st of July 2023.

Nedbank Group Limited

  • Nedbank announced that it has repurchased 15 784 216 Shares, representing 3.10% of the Companys issued share capital since March 2022.

Lewis Group Limited

  • Lewis Group has announced that it has repurchased 1 765 939 of its own ordinary shares, being 3.0% of issued share capital since November 2022.

Apple

  • Apple has booked nearly 90% of Taiwan Semiconductors first-generation 3-nanometer process capacity this year for future iPhones, Macs, and iPads.

Amazon

  • Amazon is working on an upgraded version of its home robot Astro with ChatGPT-like features, using large language models and other advanced AI.
