South Africa

Purple Group Limited

  • Purple Group successfully raised a total amount of R105 million through its rights offer.
  • The rights offer was oversubscribed, with gross demand exceeding 113% of the available Rights Offer shares.

The Foschini Group Limited- Condensed consolidated financial statements for the year ended 31 March 2023

  • Group retail turnover increased by 19.4% to R51.8 billion, with all territories achieving double-digit growth.
  • Group revenue increased by 19.4% to R55.1 billion.
  • Group online retail turnover grew by 6.6% to R4.7 billion, contributing 9.1% to total Group retail turnover.
  • Group gross margin -0.6% to 47.9%.
  • Operating profit before finance costs increased by 12.4% to R5.4 billion.
  • Profit after tax increased by 4.0% to R3.0 billion.
  • Basic earnings per share increased by 4.1% to 938.5 cents per share.

Telkom SA SOC Limited- Group Abridged Annual Results for the year ended 31 March 2023

  • Revenue increased marginally by 0.9% to R43 138 million.
  • EBITDA decreased by 19.8% with an EBITDA margin of 22.1%.
  • HEPS and BEPS decreased by 76.6% and 86.8% respectively.
  • Mobile service revenue increased by 1.8% to R17 819 million.
  • Mobile customer base grew by 7.8% to 18.3 million subscribers.
  • IT revenue increased by 13.7% to R6 371 million.

Multichoice Group Limited- Summary consolidated financial results for the year ended 31 March 2023

  • Group revenue increased by 7% (4% organic) to ZAR 59.1 billion, with subscription revenues up 7% YoY (4% organic).
  • Advertising revenues were up 7% (6% organic), supported by the FIFA World Cup and local content properties.
  • Irdeto's revenues declined 4% (17% organic) due to global supply constraints and the decision to exit Russian-based operations.
  • Group trading profit decreased by 3% to ZAR 10.0 billion (up 5% organic) due to adverse foreign exchange impact and weaker South African earnings.
  • Core headline earnings increased by 2% YoY to ZAR 3.5 billion, mainly driven by the improved contribution from the Rest of Africa.
  • Consolidated free cash flow was down 48% YoY to ZAR 2.9 billion, primarily due to working capital investment and a major financial system upgrade.

GameStop Earnings

  • EPS of -$0.14 beating expectations of -$0.17.
  • Revenue of $1.24B missing expectations of $1.34B.

Walmart

  • Walmart had the highest revenue of any American company last year for the 11th consecutive year.

Tesla

  • General Motors will follow Ford in partnering with Tesla to use its North American EV charging network.
  • General Motors customers will be able to access 12,000 Tesla Superchargers and growing beginning in early 2024.
