South Africa

Mr Price Group Limited- Preliminary group results for the year ended April 2022

  • Retail sales grew 26.0% and market share increased 140bps.
  • Total group revenue increased 23.0% to R28.1bn.
  • HEPS increased 20.1% to 1 282.1 cents and diluted HEPS increased 19.5% to 1 254.0 cents.
  • Mr Price recently acquired Power Fashion, effective 1 April 2021 as well as Yuppiechef effective 1 August 2021.
  • Online sales grew 48.2%.
  • Units sold 35.3% totalling 276m.
  • Opened 130 new stores, acquired 7 and re-opened 96 of the 111 looted stores.
  • The group remains free of financing debt and has a cash balance of R4.6bn.
  • Final dividends declared of 807.7 cents per share, up 25.9%

Multichoice Group Limited- Summary consolidated financial results  for the year ended 31 March 2022

  • Revenue grew 4% to R55 240 million.
  • Operating profit decreased 2% to R10 296 million.
  • Trading profit was unchanged at R10 334 million.
  • Free cash flow decreased 3% to R5 549 million.
  • Core HEPS increased 6% to 814 cents per share.
  • HEPS decreased 23% to 381 cents per share.
  • EPS decreased 37% to 318 cents per share.
  • Net asset value per share decreased 15% to 1 896 cents per share.
  • Dividends are unchanged at 565 cents per share

 

U.S.

Sofi

  • SoFi CEO Anthony Noto today bought 16.9K more shares of Sofi stock at an average price of $6.6 per share.

Twitter

  • Twitters board reportedly "plans to comply with Elon Musks demands for internal data by offering access to its full firehose, the massive stream of data comprising more than 500 million tweets posted each day" according to the Washington Post.

Meta

  • Facebook's head of engineering David Mortenson is stepping down from his role to be replaced by current VP of engineering Santosh Janardhan according to The Verge.
  • Meta Platforms $FB announced today its launching Crayta on Facebook Gaming.
  • Crayta is a "platform that lets you build and play games with your friends in real-time."

Tesla

  • Tesla sold a total of 32,165 China made EVs in May up from 1,152 EVs sold in April.
  • 22.3K of those units were exported while local deliveries came in at 9.8K.

Twitter

  • Twitter are expecting shareholder vote on Elon Musk deal in late July or early August.

Nio Earnings

  • EPS of -$0.13 beating expectations of -$0.16.
  • Rev of $1.56 billion beating expectations of $1.49 billion.

Amazon

  • Amazon Fashion introduced Virtual Try-On for Shoes "to visualize how a pair of shoes will look from every angle".
