South Africa

Glencore PLC- Half-year report

  • Revenue increased 43% to $134,435 million.
  • Adjusted EBITDA increased 119% to $18,918 million.
  • Income for the period attributable to equity holders increased 846% to $12,085 million.
  • EPS grew 820% to $0.92.
  • Cash generated by operating activities grew 155% to $18,290 million.
  • Glencore has announced the commencement of a program to make market purchases of its ordinary shares with an aggregate value of USD3 billion.
  • The program may continue until the 2022 full year results are announced in February 2023.

Mondi PLC- Results for the six months ended 30 June 2022

  • Revenue increased by 37% to EUR4,505 million.
  • Underlying EBITDA grew 66% to EUR942 million.
  • Profit before tax grew 164% to EUR933 million.
  • Cash generated from operations grew 28% to EUR519 million.
  • Basic EPS grew 173% to 148.4 Euro cents.
  • The board declared an interim dividend of 21.67 Euro cents, up 8%.

Mediclinic International PLC

  • A Remgro-led consortium has reached an agreement to buy out Mediclinic.
  • The acquisition values the entire issued and to be issued ordinary share capital of Mediclinic at approximately GBP3.7 billion and an implied enterprise value of approximately GBP6.1 billion Mediclinic noted in its announcement.
  • Scheme Shareholders shall be entitled to receive 504 pence in cash for each Mediclinic Share held.

Sasol Limited- Trading Statement for the financial year ended 30 June 2022

  • The EPS is expected to be between R60,59 and R63,51, representing an increase of more than 100%.
  • The HEPS is expected to be between R42,84 and R50,74, representing an increase of between 8% and 28%.

Sappi Limited- Third quarter results for the period ended June 2022

  • Sales grew 31% to $1 818 million.
  • EBITDA excluding special items grew 156% to $371 million.
  • Profit for the period increased 1006% to $199 million.
  • Net debt was reduced by 26% to $1 530 million.
  • HEPS grew 1067% to $0.35.
  • Basic EPS grew 1067% to $0.35.

Gold Fields Limited- Trading statement and operational performance for H1 2022

  • HEPS is expected to be between $0.56 and $0.60 per share, representing an increase of between 24% and 33%.
  • EPS is expected to be between $0.55 and $0.59 per share, representing an increase of between 25% to 34%.

Standard Bank Group Limited- Trading statement update for the six-month period ended 30 June 2022

  • HEPS is expected to be between 916.2 cents and 952.2 cents per share, representing an increase of between 27% and 32%.
  • EPS is expected to be between 932.6 cents and 968.5 cents per share, representing an increase of between 30% and 35%.
