South Africa

Aveng Limited

  • Aveng has announced that, through its Australasia-based subsidiary McConnell Dowell, it has been awarded an AUD600 million (approximately R6,9 billion) contract by the Tasmanian Department of State Growth to deliver the New Bridgewater Bridge. 
  • This will be Tasmanias largest-ever transport infrastructure project.
  • The awarded contract will increase McConnell Dowells work in hand to approximately AUD3,0 billion (R35 billion).
  • This iconic project will replace the existing lift span bridge built in the 1940s.

BHP Group Limited- Quarterly activities report

  • BHP has delivered record sales volumes from Western Australia Iron Ore, which has allowed them to capitalise on high iron ore prices.
  • Full-year production guidance for iron ore and energy coal was achieved.
  • Revised guidance for copper and metallurgical coal was also achieved.
  • Full-year nickel production was lower than revised guidance due to a smelter problem in June.
  • The Jansen shaft project was completed in the June 2022 quarter and Jansen Stage 1 is going according to plan. 
  • BHP is working to bring forward Jansen Stage 1 first production into 2026 and is assessing options to accelerate Jansen Stage 2.
  • The divestment of BHPs 80% interest in BMC to Stanmore and the merger of BHPs oil and gas portfolio with Woodside Energy were completed during the June 2022 quarter.

Omnia Holdings Limited

  • Omnia made a declaration of a special dividend in the amount of 525 cents per share and has received approval.

Mr. Price Group Limited

  • JP Morgan has increased its holding in Mr. Price and now holds 5.58% of the company.

Super Group Limited- Trading statement for the year ended 30 June 2022

  • Super Group expects a HEPS of between 370 cents and 410 cents, representing an increase of between 29.6% and 43.7%.
  • The annual report will be published on 30 August 2022.

IBM Earnings

  • EPS of $2.31 beating expectations of $2.28.
  • Revenue of $15.5B beating expectations of $15.25B.
  • IBM now expects about $10 billion in consolidated free cash flow.

Netflix

  • Netflix to charge $3 more for additional homes in Latin America.
  • Netflix testing new password sharing plan in Latin America.

General Motors

  • General Motors has announced it will start selling an Electric Chevy Blazer starting in mid-2023.

Tesla

  • Tesla plans to expand Gigafactory Texas.
  • "Tesla is planning to build on a 68.11-acre plot of land located adjacent to the factorys main property" TeslaRati

Berkshire Hathaway

  • Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway now owns 181.68M shares of Occidental representing about 18.2% of the company.

Twitter

  • Elon Musk reportedly plans to file a counter lawsuit against Twitter in the coming days.
  • The purpose of the countersuit would be to push a Delaware Court of Chancery judge to grant Musks lawyers more time and power to gather information about bots on Twitter.

Johnson & Johnson Earnings

  • EPS of $2.59 beating expectations of $2.57.
  • Revenue of $24.02B beating expectations of $23.81B.

Electronic Arts

  • Electronic Arts have announced that Kylian Mpabbe will be on the cover of FIFA 23.

Lockheed Martin Earnings

  • EPS of $1.16.
  • Revenue of $15.4B missing expectations of $16.05B.
  • The EPS of $1.16 is inclusive of non-operational charges. The adjusted EPS was $6.32.

Google & Shopify

  • Google-owned YouTube has announced a partnership with Shopify.
  • The partnership will allow "creators & merchants to feature their products across their YouTube channels and content".

Halliburton earnings

  • EPS of $0.49 beating expectations of $0.44.
  • Revenue of $5.07B beating expectations of $4.70B.
