Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) are baskets of shares sold on the stock market. Instead of spending hours trying to find a needle in a haystack (the perfect stock), you can simply buy the entire haystack (a basket of many different stocks) by investing in  ETFs. Investing in ETFs gives you automatic diversification because you get many different shares in one basket. Diversification is great because it reduces the risk of losing all your money compared to investing in just one stock. Investing in ETFs give you your fair share of stock market returns with less risk and effort.
